A Pine Tree Public Space

A Pine Tree Public Space is an innovative interior architectural project completed in Taiwan in 2016, exemplifying a harmonious blend of Japanese aesthetic principles with contemporary spatial design. This sophisticated public space, spanning 379.5 square meters, was masterfully conceived by designer Yi-Ching Wang to create a livable and pleasant paradise that captures the essence of primitive life while maintaining modern functionality. The design's distinctive features include a water curtain corridor at the entrance, where trapezoidal geometric lines create an abstract mountain wall with running water, producing a sensory experience through the interplay of sound and temperature. The central staircase serves as a pivotal design element, functioning both as a transitional space and a temporary resting area, challenging traditional hall furniture arrangements. The project's exterior showcases natural tones and wooden grille elements that pay homage to Japanese dry landscape aesthetics, while the interior space demonstrates sophisticated level changes and visual diversity. Notable design solutions include the implementation of specific class window openings that maintain privacy while allowing glimpses of the exterior, and the innovative use of flood stone material combined with mobile lines on tall walls to create a dynamic yet serene atmosphere. The project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2017, demonstrates exceptional achievement in spatial organization, material selection, and cultural integration, particularly in its response to the challenges of urban context and noise mitigation through thoughtful architectural interventions.
