Zero Sun Lounger
Zero Sun Lounger is an innovative and sculptural outdoor furniture piece that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of form and function in contemporary design. Conceived by Brazilian designer Roberta Banqueri, this ground-hugging lounger derives its name from its proximity to the earth, symbolizing a connection with natural elements while offering an open position toward the sky. The design's distinctive feature lies in its modular composition, consisting of a carefully curved seating surface supported by cylindrical tubes crafted from durable Cumaru wood, a Brazilian hardwood known for its exceptional outdoor performance. The lounger's anatomy incorporates a meticulously calculated curvature that provides optimal ergonomic comfort, with the main seating component featuring an aluminum construction finished with electrostatic painting and synthetic cast canvas. The supporting cylindrical elements, available in two modular dimensions of 0.90 meters or 1.80 meters with a 0.50-meter diameter, contain an internal aluminum core for structural integrity, while the main lounger measures 0.70 meters in width, 2.30 meters in length, and maintains a minimal height of 0.15 centimeters from the ground. This versatile design allows for various configurations through the simple connection of cylindrical tubes, enabling multiple layout possibilities suitable for residential, hospitality, and poolside settings. The piece's innovative structural solution, where the headboard curve deliberately avoids ground contact and relies on the cylindrical support for balance, creates a visually striking composition that earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, acknowledging its contribution to contemporary furniture design through its original approach to outdoor lounging furniture.
