Zens Teatime Showroom

Zens Teatime Showroom is an innovative interior exhibition space that masterfully blends oriental architectural elements with contemporary design principles, creating an immersive tea-drinking environment that exemplifies the intersection of tradition and modernity. The showroom, designed by Jiayao Huang and team, spans an impressive 12,000 x 8,000 mm with a height of 5,000 mm, featuring a sophisticated structural framework crafted from hot square iron and naturally treated bamboo poles. The design's distinctive characteristic lies in its modular construction system, incorporating nine thousand pre-fabricated bamboo poles that can be assembled and disassembled, facilitating its transportation and reconstruction across different international locations. This sustainable approach extends to the material selection, with all components being fully recyclable. The space is thoughtfully arranged to create an open, approachable atmosphere where visitors can freely explore and experience tea culture through carefully curated viewing frames and seating areas. The design's emphasis on natural materials, spatial sequencing, and the interplay of light and shadow creates an emotionally resonant environment that honors traditional eastern architectural elements while embracing contemporary functionality. This harmonious fusion earned the project a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its exceptional achievement in creating a space that successfully combines poetic lifestyle elements with sustainable values. The showroom's innovative approach to material treatment addresses practical challenges such as regional climate differences, insect prevention, and fire resistance, while maintaining its aesthetic integrity and cultural significance.
