Zen And People Residence

Zen And People Residence

Zen and People Residence is an award-winning architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Japanese Zen philosophy with contemporary minimalist aesthetics, completed in Taiwan in 2022. This 68-square-meter residential space, distinguished by its sophisticated approach to spatial organization, features three bedrooms plus one and a thoughtfully designed living area, demonstrating exceptional innovation in addressing architectural challenges while maintaining aesthetic coherence. The design's foundational concept revolves around the strategic use of color blocks at different scales, employing a minimalist approach that emphasizes the essence of Zen philosophy through material authenticity and spatial purity. Notable design solutions include the ingenious integration of a projection screen within existing beam structures, wrapped in dark wood veneer, and the implementation of a curved ceiling design that effectively conceals mechanical systems while creating a sense of spatial fluidity. The project showcases a masterful combination of materials, including water-rippled glass, light-colored terrazzo, titanium-plated metal, and dark wood grain veneer, each selected for their unique reflective properties and textural contributions to the overall ambiance. The design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to modern residential design. The space's functionality is enhanced through thoughtful elements such as open bar shelving and concealed cabinets, while the careful consideration of material textures and color harmonies creates a tranquil atmosphere that successfully balances modern industrial elements with traditional Zen principles.
