Yorkville - The Ring Mixed-Use Shopping Mall
Yorkville - The Ring Mixed-Use Shopping Mall is an innovative architectural masterpiece that seamlessly integrates commercial retail spaces with natural elements, located in the Yubei District of Chongqing, China. This 420,000-square-meter development encompasses a 170,000-square-meter shopping mall, a 110,000-square-meter super grade A office building, and a striking 70,000-square-meter indoor botanical garden that rises six stories to a height of 42 meters. The development's most distinctive feature is its unprecedented fusion of organic nature with retail experiences, showcased through three distinct themed areas within the botanical garden: the Soul Tree, the Aerial Forest, and the Riverside Hills. The project employs advanced technological solutions, including natural ventilation and shading CFD technology, thermostatic heating DEST simulation, and comprehensive BIM technology integration. The facade's innovative modular design, created through parametric modeling, incorporates ceramic tiles and aluminum panels that abstractly represent wind, woods, and clouds, enhanced by LED lighting that brings the structure to life. The design successfully overcomes the challenge of creating a seamless urban-nature hybrid community, with retail circulation interweaving with the botanical garden to create multi-dimensional spaces. The project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional environmental consciousness with its LEED Gold Certification pre-qualification for both towers, showcasing a commitment to sustainable development and innovative architectural solutions.
