Ye Lounge Garden Restaurant
Ye Lounge Garden Restaurant is an innovative immersive dining establishment that revolutionizes the traditional restaurant concept by seamlessly blending natural elements with urban dining experiences. Located in Beijing's Chaoyang District, this groundbreaking venue, designed by Wei Zhang in 2022, encompasses approximately 1,080 square meters of thoughtfully crafted space divided between outdoor gardens and indoor dining areas. The design philosophy draws inspiration from the Chinese concept of ye (wild, free, original ecology), creating an escape from urban constraints through meticulous landscape architecture and interior design. The establishment features a sophisticated 200-square-meter outdoor garden with natural drainage systems, a 600-square-meter outdoor seating area accommodating 80 guests, and a 280-square-meter indoor garden space serving 50 patrons. The design incorporates handcrafted elements such as authentic bark and branch installations, custom-engineered creek systems, and seasonally adapted vegetation to create a multi-sensory dining experience. Notable technical achievements include the implementation of complex waterproofing solutions for the indoor creek system and the integration of load-bearing considerations within the converted industrial space. The entrance sequence guides visitors through a carefully orchestrated bamboo forest pathway, enhanced by atmospheric elements such as water mist and firefly-inspired lighting. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category demonstrates exceptional innovation in creating an immersive dining environment that addresses contemporary urban dwellers' desire for nature-connected experiences, particularly significant in the context of post-pandemic social dynamics.
