XY Pivot Residential House

XY Pivot Residential House

XY Pivot Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project located in Taipei, Taiwan, that masterfully transforms a compact 33-square-meter space into a multifunctional living environment. Designed by Cheng-Yuan Huang and completed in 2016, this Silver A' Design Award-winning project exemplifies sophisticated space optimization through its ingenious extension concept, which creates a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas. The design's cornerstone feature is a cleverly engineered dining table that extends from the interior to the balcony, utilizing different heights to serve distinct functions - the indoor portion accommodates dining and working activities, while the elevated outdoor section functions as a casual bar area. The interior arrangement efficiently incorporates essential living spaces, including a hallway, living room, dining room, kitchen, working area, bathroom, and bedroom, all while maintaining a sense of spaciousness through thoughtful spatial planning. The project showcases an intelligent material palette comprising iron metal, grey tile, wood pieces, glass, and steel, creating a cohesive aesthetic throughout. A notable design element includes a custom-designed iron pendant light system that establishes visual continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. The project addresses the specific needs of the client through vertical space utilization, featuring a sophisticated book wall with a sliding ladder in the living room, seamlessly integrated with an open kitchen concept. This residential solution demonstrates exceptional innovation in small-space living, particularly relevant in dense urban environments, and was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its outstanding approach to spatial design and functionality.
