Xanadu Residential House

Xanadu Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of urban living with tranquil natural elements, completed in 2018 in Taichung City, Taiwan. This 126-square-meter dwelling, designed by architect Lulu Cheng, draws inspiration from Chinese poetic philosophy, specifically the concept of finding serenity amid urban complexity. The design's most distinctive feature is its central three-sided transparent flower room, which serves as an architectural bridge between public and private spaces while creating a continuous verdant vista throughout the living areas. The project demonstrates exceptional spatial planning through its seamless transition from exterior to interior, achieved by extending landscape pavement at the entrance, creating a thoughtful emotional transition zone. The interior's material palette combines wood veneer, solid wood, and stone, complemented by an innovative sky garden featuring epiphytic plants mounted on dry trunks. This sophisticated approach to biophilic design earned the project a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its excellence in creating spaces that enhance the quality of life for retired residents.
