X House Residential Building

X House Residential Building

X House Residential Building is an exemplary residential architectural project completed in 2019 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, that masterfully integrates modern design principles with environmental consciousness. The 460-square-meter structure stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural intervention within an urban forest setting, where the preservation of existing green spaces was paramount to the design philosophy. The building's distinctive feature lies in its harmonious dialogue with its surroundings, achieved through extensive panoramic glazing that creates a seamless visual connection between interior and exterior spaces. The structure employs a sophisticated material palette comprising porcelain stoneware, metal, wooden elements, and fiber-cement panels, chosen specifically to complement the natural environment. A notable architectural element includes the cantilevered roof outlets and second-floor terraces, executed in reinforced concrete, which create dynamic broken lines around the main volume. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category demonstrates exceptional achievement in sustainable urban residential architecture, where the interplay of light and shadow, volume and void, and the careful balance of contrasting elements create a sophisticated living environment. The design's success lies in its ability to maintain the integrity of the urban forest while establishing a contemporary residential space that serves as a model for environmentally conscious architecture.
