Wuzhen Jintang Club is an exemplary architectural and interior design project that masterfully reimagines a traditional Chinese building, spanning an impressive 8,631.8 square meters in Jiaxing, China. Completed in January 2021 under the creative direction of designer Kai Tang, alongside team members Jianping Bu, Ping Liu, and Huasheng Zhu, this transformative project demonstrates an innovative approach to cultural preservation and modern spatial design. The design concept draws profound inspiration from the term Jintang itself, where Jin refers to brocade, embodying the intricate patterns and rich textures found in traditional Chinese silk weaving. This metaphorical foundation manifests throughout the space through a sophisticated interplay of materials including stone, wood veneer, metal, fabric, leather, glass, aluminum plate, rock plate, and shell mosaic. The project's distinctive design philosophy emphasizes the harmonious integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, breaking away from conventional enclosed structures to create more fluid, interactive environments. The interior showcases an artful fusion of classical Chinese elements with contemporary design sensibilities, particularly evident in its hand-painted art columns and large-span weaving installations. The color palette, dominated by the traditional interweaving of red and green hues, symbolizes the convergence of market prosperity and natural beauty. This exceptional work, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2021, stands as a testament to innovative spatial design that successfully bridges cultural heritage with modern functionality.
