Wugu Market Interior Space

Wugu Market Interior Space

Wugu Market Interior Space is an innovative retail environment design project completed in 2022 in New Taipei, Taiwan, that revolutionizes the traditional market concept through modern architectural interventions and thoughtful spatial planning. This 2,327-square-meter facility represents a significant departure from conventional marketplace design by implementing a sophisticated raw and cooked separation system, incorporating advanced refrigeration technology, and featuring electrostatic oil fume management systems to ensure optimal food hygiene and preservation. The design draws inspiration from local cultural elements, particularly the region's famous green bamboo shoots and bamboo forests, which are reflected in the natural cement flooring and wood grain line grille details. The space's functionality is enhanced through careful consideration of safety features, including non-slip tile installations and modern hardware equipment, while the clear delineation between different vendor zones optimizes business operations and customer flow. The interior design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully addresses the growing population's needs by transforming an underutilized three-dimensional parking lot into a vibrant marketplace. The project's emphasis on sustainability, promotion, and interaction creates a unique shopping destination that maintains strong connections to local culture while providing modern amenities such as specialized display cabinets, meat processing areas, and advanced ventilation systems, effectively bridging traditional market culture with contemporary retail requirements.
