Wowo Multipurpose Furniture

Wowo Multipurpose Furniture

Wowo Multipurpose Furniture is an innovative seating solution that exemplifies the intersection of playful design aesthetics and functional versatility in contemporary furniture design. Conceived by designers Wei Jingye, Song Kexin, Zheng Xiaolei, and Zhou Haoyuan in 2023, this furniture collection draws inspiration from the expressive mouth shapes children make when pronouncing wowo, translating this organic form into a sophisticated design language. The collection features a distinctive combination of solid wood supporting structures and 3D-printed components, united through an ingenious magnetic assembly system that facilitates both transportation and assembly. Distinguished by its high-saturation color palette and mellow, rounded forms, the furniture pieces measure 800 mm x 750 mm x 950 mm and 640 mm x 550 mm x 800 mm, incorporating special hollow structures that contribute to their lightweight yet durable construction. The design successfully addresses the challenge of creating furniture that harmoniously serves both human and pet interactions within domestic spaces, featuring an ergonomic design that accommodates various sitting positions for activities ranging from reading to leisure. The innovative approach to materials and construction, combining traditional woodworking with advanced 3D printing technology, earned this design the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, recognizing its contribution to contemporary furniture design through its blend of technological innovation, user-centered functionality, and aesthetic appeal. The furniture's child-like innocence and pet-friendly features make it particularly suitable for modern family environments, where it serves not only as functional seating but also as an engaging decorative element that enhances interior spaces through its vibrant presence and thoughtful design considerations.
