Woven

Woven is a term in textile and design that refers to the process and the resulting product of interlacing two distinct sets of threads or yarns, known as the warp and the weft, at right angles to each other to create a fabric or cloth. The warp threads run longitudinally and are held taut, while the weft threads are drawn through and inserted over-and-under the warp threads. This interlacing process, called weaving, can be done by hand or by using a loom, a device that holds the warp threads in place while facilitating the interweaving of the weft. The pattern of this interlacement, known as the weave structure, can vary greatly, from simple plain weaves to more intricate twill or satin weaves, each with its own distinct appearance, texture, and properties. The choice of weave structure, along with the type of fibers used, their color, and the density of the threads, determines the characteristics of the resulting woven fabric, such as its durability, drape, thickness, and appearance.
