Woo Screen Screen is an innovative three-fan furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities. Created by the Magpie Team, this elegant screen installation transforms a naturally occurring tree branch into a sophisticated spatial divider, measuring 1800mm in width, 1700mm in height, and 50mm in depth. The design's distinctive feature lies in its three-dimensional approach, departing from conventional Chinese screens by incorporating an actual branch segment that has been thoughtfully sectioned and mounted using concealed needle-like nails, creating an seamless integration with the screen's framework. The structure employs 5mm x 3mm pinewood construction, enhanced through an intensive finishing process involving thirty layers of Sichuan Chinese lacquer, ensuring both durability and resistance to insects and corrosion. The carefully selected reddish-brown lacquer finish, determined after extensive testing, complements the overall aesthetic while hemp ropes suspend the branch elements to create an ethereal, floating effect. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation in the Furniture Design category stands as a versatile piece suitable for various environments, from teahouses to private residences, offering both functional space division and artistic merit.
