Window View Residence
Window View Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of indoor and outdoor spaces through thoughtful architectural renovation. Located in Taiwan, this 112.3-square-meter apartment transformation, designed by Kun-Han Yang, represents a sophisticated approach to modern minimalist living while maintaining a strong connection with nature. The design's primary focus revolves around two strategically positioned windows that serve as portals to the exterior environment, allowing residents to maintain a constant visual connection with the surrounding luxuriant trees. The interior aesthetic is characterized by a careful balance of large plain colors and warm wood elements, creating a serene atmosphere that is punctuated by strategic touches of greenery and artistic elements. Notable design features include the innovative treatment of the ceiling, where the designer preserved original structural beams while implementing a single curved ceiling design to maintain spatial harmony. The renovation addressed practical considerations for retirement living through accessible flooring solutions and thoughtful space planning. The project, which was completed in October 2023, earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, highlighting its excellence in spatial design and functionality. The design successfully transforms a decades-old apartment into a contemporary living space that emphasizes natural light, smooth circulation, and the psychological benefits of connecting with nature, while incorporating sophisticated storage solutions and acoustic considerations for the residents' audio equipment.
