Whiteland Residence
Whiteland Residence is an exemplary contemporary residential interior design project completed in Taiwan, showcasing a sophisticated approach to spatial organization within a 224-square-meter living space. The design, conceived by Ching Feng Chang, demonstrates a masterful integration of functionality and aesthetics, particularly notable for its innovative solution to the challenges presented by a long, single-sided daylight layout. The residence's design philosophy centers on creating a harmonious balance between public and private spaces, utilizing a central walkway that connects all functional areas while maintaining visual transparency and maximizing natural light penetration. The interior architecture is characterized by its distinctive use of white as a base color, complemented by varying material textures and depths that create a multi-layered visual experience. The design incorporates streamlined ceiling details, featuring linear metal strips and ribbon-like indirect lighting that enhances the spatial flow. The public areas are distinguished by their use of premium materials including wallpaper, stone, and metal accents, while the private spaces maintain the design language while introducing more personalized elements such as textured quartz brick flooring. A significant achievement of this project lies in its transformation of the original four-room layout into a more spacious and functional arrangement, where two rooms were repurposed into a shoe storage room and mini bar, effectively opening up the public areas. The project, which was completed between October 2021 and July 2022, has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial design and innovative approach to modern living. The design's sophisticated integration of curved elements, including the ceiling modeling and furniture arrangement, contributes to a youthful yet elegant atmosphere, while the thoughtful implementation of titanium-plated metal frames and glass materials in the master bedroom's dressing area exemplifies the project's attention to detail and commitment to luxury living.
