White-Bellied Green Pigeon

The White-Bellied Green Pigeon (Treron sieboldii) is a bird species that belongs to the family Columbidae. This medium-sized bird is mainly found in East Asia, including China, Japan, Korea, and the Russian Far East. It is a beautiful bird with a predominantly green plumage, a white belly, black wings and tail, and a yellow bill. The male and female birds have similar appearances, with the male being slightly larger than the female. The White-Bellied Green Pigeon is a frugivorous bird that feeds mainly on fruits, including figs, berries, and other soft fruits. It can be observed in a variety of habitats, including deciduous and coniferous forests, as well as urban parks and gardens. The bird is known to be fairly common, although it is becoming increasingly rare in some parts of its range due to habitat loss and overhunting. During the breeding season, which typically occurs from April to August, the White-Bellied Green Pigeon builds a simple nest made of twigs and leaves, usually in the fork of a tree. The female lays a single egg, which is incubated for about two weeks. Both parents take turns incubating the egg and caring for the chick after it hatches. In terms of conservation status, the White-Bellied Green Pigeon is listed as a species of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). However, the bird is still threatened by habitat loss and overhunting in some parts of its range.
