White-balance
White-balance is a concept in photography and videography that refers to the process of adjusting the color temperature of an image to ensure that white objects appear truly white, and other colors are rendered accurately. It is a crucial aspect of capturing images that faithfully represent the colors of the scene as perceived by the human eye. The color temperature of light is measured in Kelvin (K), with lower values indicating warmer, more orange-tinted light, and higher values representing cooler, more blue-tinted light. Different light sources, such as sunlight, incandescent bulbs, or fluorescent lamps, have varying color temperatures that can cast color casts on the image. White-balance correction aims to neutralize these color casts and maintain color fidelity across different lighting conditions. Cameras often have automatic white-balance settings that attempt to determine the appropriate color temperature based on the scene, but manual white-balance adjustments allow for more precise control. This can be achieved by using a gray card or a white reference object to set a custom white-balance value. In post-processing, white-balance can also be fine-tuned using software tools to further optimize color accuracy. Proper white-balance is essential in various fields, including professional photography, cinematography, and scientific imaging, where accurate color representation is critical for documentation, analysis, and aesthetic purposes
