White And Steel School Office

White and Steel School office is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the sophisticated use of contrast and materiality in contemporary educational spaces. Created by Japanese architect Tetsuya Matsumoto, this 112-square-meter reception and office space, completed in December 2017, demonstrates a masterful exploration of sensory design through the juxtaposition of white surfaces and Black Skin Iron (kuro kawatetsu). The design philosophy draws inspiration from traditional Japanese Ink Wash Painting and black-and-white photography, translating their two-dimensional aesthetic principles into a three-dimensional spatial experience. The project's minimalist approach features uniformly painted white surfaces that create an inorganic, gallery-like atmosphere, strategically complemented by the application of Black Skin Iron, whose unique oxide layers produce distinctive bluish tones and organic textures. The spatial organization includes a reception area with a striking metallic backwall, a glazed conference room, and consultation spaces adorned with metal plates displayed as contemporary artwork.
