Created by designer Fan Fengyuan, this sophisticated lighting system features a unique retractable mechanism that allows the square lamp to conceal itself within the ground during daylight hours, maximizing the utilization of public spaces. The design, measuring 180mm in width, 180mm in depth, and reaching a height of 4500mm when fully extended, incorporates an acrylic tube lampshade that undergoes specialized heat treatment to achieve a distinctive 360-degree spiral rotation, creating an aesthetically pleasing rhythmic form reminiscent of dance movements. The system employs advanced automation to gradually emerge as evening approaches, reaching its full height by 7 PM, at which point it combines illumination with programmable laser projection capabilities to designate different activity zones within the square. This thoughtful integration of technology and social awareness helps manage the sometimes conflicting needs of various age groups who share these public spaces, from elderly dancers to young athletes. The design, which won a Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a significant advancement in urban lighting infrastructure, featuring a carbon structural steel construction that ensures durability while maintaining an elegant appearance. The system's sophisticated timing mechanism gradually reduces light intensity and laser projections between 10 PM and midnight, effectively managing noise pollution concerns in nearby residential areas while promoting organized use of public spaces.
