Westland Insurance Office Design is an innovative workplace interior design project encompassing 5500 square meters across six levels, exemplifying contemporary corporate architecture through its emphasis on flexibility, connectivity, and cultural representation. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully addresses the challenges of an irregular floorplate by incorporating curved forms that create a welcoming atmosphere and establish a subtle connection to the natural environment. The comprehensive layout features 338 workstations, 38 offices, and 34 meeting rooms distributed across five lower floors, while the seventh floor houses a versatile space combining reception, conference center, bistro, and catering facilities that can be transformed for events. The design philosophy centers on creating an inspiring and approachable environment, achieved through consistent material application that facilitates intuitive navigation between floors. A signature architectural element is the featured staircase connecting the upper levels, promoting spontaneous interactions among staff members. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to local identity through the incorporation of Canadian materials, including concrete, wood, and handwoven rugs, creating a calm and productive atmosphere. The modular planning approach ensures a future-proof workplace that accommodates various work styles, from intimate brainstorming sessions to large conferences, while maintaining an equitable distribution of resources. Support and collaboration areas are strategically positioned in consistent locations throughout the floors, enabling seamless movement and familiarity for staff members. The design, completed in 2022, represents a sophisticated response to contemporary workplace needs, emphasizing diversity through distinctive artwork, accessible signage, and graphics, while supporting connection, collaboration, and organizational growth.
