West 76th Street Residential House

West 76th Street Residential House

West 76th Street Residential House is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully bridges historical architecture with contemporary design sensibilities. Located in New York City, this sophisticated apartment renovation demonstrates an exceptional balance between preserving architectural heritage and introducing modern elements. The design's most distinctive feature is its thoughtful treatment of transitional spaces, where original baseboards seamlessly merge with contemporary quarter-inch reveals that create an illusion of floating walls. The interior showcases meticulous attention to material selection and craftsmanship, particularly evident in the herringbone-patterned reclaimed oak flooring finished with natural oil, adding both visual interest and historical resonance. The bathroom design exemplifies luxurious restraint through its combination of unlacquered brass fixtures and classic Carrara marble. Drawing inspiration from European architectural traditions while embracing modern minimalism, the residence achieves a harmonious dialogue between past and present. The project, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant achievement in residential interior design, particularly noteworthy for its ability to create spaces that are both contemplative and invigorating. The design philosophy emphasizes simplicity and refinement, resulting in an environment that honors its historical context while providing contemporary comfort and functionality. The careful consideration of materials, spatial relationships, and architectural details creates an atmosphere of understated luxury that resonates with both historical awareness and modern sensibilities.
