Welding Wire
Welding wire, also known as filler wire or consumable electrode, is a type of wire that is used in the process of welding. It is a thin, flexible metal wire that is fed through a welding gun and melted to join two metal pieces together. The wire is made of various materials, such as steel, aluminum, nickel, and titanium, depending on the type of metal being welded. The wire is coated with a flux material that helps to protect the weld from contamination and oxidation, and also helps to stabilize the arc during the welding process. Welding wire is used in a variety of welding processes, including MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, and Stick welding. In MIG welding, the wire is fed through a spool and a wire feeder, and is melted by an electric arc between the wire and the metal being welded. In TIG welding, the wire is fed through a torch and is melted by a non-consumable tungsten electrode, which creates an arc that melts the wire and the metal being welded. In Stick welding, the wire is coated with a flux material that creates a shield around the weld, and is melted by an electric arc between the wire and the metal being welded. Welding wire is available in a range of diameters and lengths, depending on the type of welding being done and the thickness of the metal being welded. It is important to select the correct type of welding wire for the job, as using the wrong wire can result in a weak or faulty weld. Welding wire is also available in different grades and strengths, depending on the application and the requirements of the weld.
