Waltz Residential House

Waltz Residential House

Waltz Residential House is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, distinguished by its innovative approach to creating a nurturing family environment through thoughtful spatial design and material selection. The 330-square-meter interior space, designed by Hsueh-Yu Yeh, masterfully integrates curved architectural elements throughout its layout to minimize sharp corners, symbolically representing family harmony while creating a fluid spatial flow. The design encompasses an entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen, storeroom, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, featuring a sophisticated material palette including titanium-plated metal, pure white silver fox marble, wood veneer, and brushed surfaces. The project's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from maternal love, incorporating circular motifs in the canopy design that, combined with soft lighting and warm colors, creates a metaphorical beacon guiding family members home. Notable design elements include a striking entrance vista crafted from hollow titanium-plated metal and silver fox marble, geometric trapezoid iron details, and a wooden grille backdrop for the sofa area that establishes visual continuity with the entrance. The extensive use of wood throughout the space creates a balance between firmness and tenderness, while contemporary artistic elements, including work by Yoshitomo Nara, introduce modern sophistication. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to sustainable design practices through the use of environmentally friendly, low-formaldehyde materials, while successfully achieving a boutique-luxury aesthetic that maintains warmth and functionality for daily family life.
