Village Foods Office

Village Foods Office is an innovative interior design project that reimagines traditional workplace aesthetics, completed in February 2017 in Tahara city, Aichi, Japan. This 250-square-meter office space challenges conventional corporate design paradigms by creating an environment that seamlessly integrates the excitement of restaurant aesthetics with professional functionality. Designed by Atsushi Kawaguchi, the project deliberately departs from monotonous workspace stereotypes to establish a dynamic environment where work and enjoyment coexist harmoniously. The design features a sophisticated two-floor layout, with the first floor housing an entrance hall and central kitchen, while the second floor accommodates primary office functions. The entrance makes a striking first impression with its open-ceiling hall and grand staircase, meticulously crafted using wood strips arranged in a tile-like pattern. The exterior walls showcase authentic antique brick tiles sourced from French colonial-era Vietnamese buildings, arranged in varied patterns to create visual interest while maintaining architectural integrity. The interior spaces incorporate premium materials including solid wood boards, natural stones, cement, and mosaic tiles, layered thoughtfully to create an atmosphere of abundant creativity. The second-floor office area employs figured glass partitions to maintain spatial flow while providing necessary privacy, and a carefully designed employee cafeteria offers a coffee shop-like atmosphere for relaxation. This innovative approach to corporate space design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to workplace design evolution.
