Villa Mistral Residential Villa
Villa Mistral Residential Villa is an architecturally distinctive residential structure that exemplifies innovative coastal living design, drawing inspiration from maritime aesthetics and Mediterranean influences. Located in Sentosa, Singapore, this four-level contemporary dwelling masterfully integrates structural expressionism with sophisticated spatial planning. The villa's design philosophy centers on the metaphor of a powerful vessel cutting through water, reflected in its dynamic angular forms and forward-thrusting geometry. The structure features a meticulously orchestrated arrival sequence, beginning with a floating concrete footbridge that crosses a reflective pond, leading to an entry vestibule with a sculpted travertine wall. The villa's composition spans multiple levels, incorporating a basement entertainment area, street-level living spaces, and upper-floor bedrooms with strategic ocean views. The exterior facade combines timber and concrete elements with rhythmically arranged windows of varying scales, while the interior spaces showcase a harmonious integration of natural materials and sustainable design strategies. Notable architectural features include outward-leaning structural elements, angled glazed walls creating vertiginous experiences, and a sophisticated response to local building regulations including the 30-degree pitched roof requirement. The design successfully balances aesthetic ambition with practical considerations, incorporating feng shui principles and sustainable strategies throughout. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category demonstrates exceptional achievement in architectural innovation, completing construction in 2014 after a comprehensive development process that began in 2008.
