Vetrina Nel Vento Shelf

Vetrina Nel Vento Shelf

Vetrina nel Vento Shelf is an innovative artistic furniture piece that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of functional design and sculptural artistry, created by Italian designer Guido Formenti. This unique shelving unit, standing at 2000mm in height with dimensions of 1180x630mm, is distinguished by its four distinctive columns, each featuring a different design that supports the shelving system. Crafted from national walnut wood, the piece demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its handworked construction, utilizing basic joinery equipment and manual tools, finished with impregnating agents and water-based paint. The design philosophy behind this piece draws inspiration from environmental surroundings and emotional responses, reflecting the artist's ability to perceive forms through what he calls the eyes of the heart. The creation process notably eschews preparatory drawings, allowing the work to evolve organically during production, with modifications such as steel supports added to enhance stability. This approach results in a dynamic piece that challenges traditional furniture design conventions while maintaining functional utility. The shelf's artistic merit was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, acknowledging its exceptional blend of aesthetic appeal, innovative technique, and conceptual depth. Created as part of an internal design project, this piece exemplifies the intersection of fine art and functional furniture design, demonstrating how everyday objects can be elevated to artistic expressions while maintaining their practical purpose.
