Venus Cradle Furniture

Venus Cradle Furniture

Venus Cradle Furniture is an innovative multifunctional furniture piece that seamlessly integrates the needs of both mother and child throughout pregnancy and early childhood development. Drawing profound inspiration from Neolithic-era Venus figurines discovered in Tappeh Sarab, Iran, this ergonomically designed furniture piece represents a harmonious fusion of ancient symbolism and contemporary functionality. The design, created by Hajar Shahsavari and Golnoush Zamani, features an oval-shaped wooden structure crafted using CNC technology, complemented by 60mm upholstery foam and fabric covering, measuring 800mm in width, 1200mm in depth, and 1000mm in height. Its versatile design accommodates multiple functions, including a comfortable resting space during pregnancy, a unique feature incorporating stethoscope technology in the pillow for fetal heartbeat monitoring, and a convertible cradle system suitable for infants up to five years old. The furniture's protective fence, constructed with Polywood and connected via circular patches, can be adjusted to ensure child safety. This innovative design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, exemplifies thoughtful integration of cultural heritage with modern maternal needs. The design's emphasis on the nurturing relationship between mother and child, combined with its adaptable functionality, represents a significant advancement in furniture design that addresses both practical and emotional aspects of early parenthood.
