Urban Alice Restaurant And Bar
Urban Alice Restaurant and Bar is an innovative urban lifestyle platform located in Seoul's Ewha Womans University district, conceived as a contemporary interpretation of Alice in Wonderland for young urbanites seeking respite from city life's pressures. This multifaceted establishment, spanning three stories across 3,795.8 square meters, represents a sophisticated approach to commercial space revitalization, transforming an abandoned shopping center into a vibrant cultural hub. The design, which earned a Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, features distinct thematic zones including an art gallery, secret garden, and library, each crafted to foster different aspects of cultural engagement and social interaction. The first floor showcases a minimalist white gallery space combined with café facilities, enabling public art exhibitions and casual gatherings. The architectural composition employs a carefully curated selection of materials including terrazzo flooring, polished tiles, and woven surfaces, complemented by walls featuring brick, colored glass, and sound panels, creating an atmosphere that balances aesthetics with functionality. The space's design philosophy extends beyond mere commercial considerations, establishing an open platform where visitors actively participate in cultural content creation and sharing. This innovative approach to spatial design, completed in March 2018, demonstrates exceptional consideration for materials, lighting, and spatial flow, while addressing the contemporary needs of young professionals and students seeking both creative inspiration and social connection in an urban setting.
