Unity Center Table

Unity Center Table

Unity Center table is an award-winning furniture design that exemplifies the fusion of cultural symbolism, craftsmanship, and contemporary aesthetics. Created in 2017, this sophisticated center table embodies themes of global unity, peace, and equality through its thoughtful design elements and meticulous execution. The table's distinctive design features a hand-etched abstraction of the world map on its surface, delicately rendered with longitude and latitude markings that create a circular grid pattern. The table's base draws inspiration from the tabla, a traditional Sufi musical instrument, incorporating curved rosewood veneers carefully aligned to showcase the natural wood grain patterns. A solid brass ring, measuring 50.8 mm in thickness, serves as both a structural and symbolic element, uniting the world map-adorned top with the drum-inspired base. Standing at 419.1 mm in height with a diameter of 1219.2 mm, the table demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its hand-stained surfaces highlighting the world's continents and its high-gloss polyurethane top coat finish. Each piece requires 45 days of meticulous handcrafting, utilizing premium materials including rosewood veneers, solid brass, and solvent stains. The design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award Competition, successfully bridges luxury interior aesthetics with meaningful cultural narrative, making it suitable for both upscale residential spaces and yacht interiors. The table's creation process involves complex techniques including hand etching, veneer pressing, and precise brass fitting, resulting in a piece that serves as both a functional furniture item and an artistic statement about global harmony.
