Unique Space Devised Through Skylight Residential House

Unique Space Devised Through Skylight Residential House

Unique Space Devised Through Skylight Residential House is an innovative residential architectural project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural light and spatial design principles. This remarkable interior design achievement, created by Sheng-Hao Sun, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to transforming living spaces through the strategic use of artificial skylights and sculptural elements. The design, which spans across two floors totaling 290 square meters, features a dramatic interplay between light and shadow, incorporating a distinctive transition from darker tones on the first floor to brighter spaces above. The project's centerpiece is a sculptural staircase that serves both as a functional element and an artistic statement, fundamentally altering the spatial dynamics of the home. The design employs premium materials including oak, black tile, marble, and black iron to create a refined aesthetic environment. A notable feature is the innovative ceiling treatment, where long wood panels extend from the master bedroom to the balcony, effectively blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases exceptional attention to structural engineering, particularly in the repositioning of the staircase which required extensive reinforcement work. The design's sophisticated approach to spatial awareness is further enhanced by the implementation of semi-opaque skylights that transform previously dark corners into vibrant living areas, while carefully considered wooden grates on the terrace maintain privacy while framing mountain views.
