Underlying Elegance Residential House

Underlying Elegance Residential House

Underlying Elegance Residential House is an award-winning residential interior design project located in Taipei, Taiwan, that exemplifies sophisticated modern living through thoughtful spatial planning and sustainable design principles. This 71-square-meter renovated apartment features a distinctive north-facing layout with a loft configuration that maximizes natural light penetration throughout the space. The design seamlessly integrates multiple functional zones, including an open-concept living room, dining room, and Japanese-style room on the lower level, while maintaining private sleeping quarters on the upper floor. Notable design elements include a striking vertical garden that transforms a structural constraint into an aesthetic focal point, wooden tiles laid in a 45-degree pattern to enhance spatial flow, and sophisticated faux stone vein wall treatments that create visual continuity from the entryway to the Japanese room. The project, completed in September 2021, demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental sustainability through the innovative reuse of existing materials and the implementation of green building practices. The strategic placement of the dining area adjacent to windows creates a harmonious connection between interior and exterior spaces while optimizing natural light exposure during meal times. The residence serves dual purposes as both a private dwelling and a model showcase for clients, embodying the designer's philosophy and expertise in contemporary interior design. The project's excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and functional innovation was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, highlighting its contribution to advancing residential interior design practices.
