Uncover The Light Residence
Uncover The Light Residence is an award-winning residential interior design project that masterfully addresses the challenges of western exposure while harmonizing contrasting design preferences in a 181.5-square-meter apartment. The design, created by Yao-Cheng Tseng, showcases an innovative approach to light management and spatial organization through the strategic use of wooden louvers, grilles, and sophisticated material selections. The project's distinguishing feature is its revolutionary ceiling design, which breaks away from conventional horizontal and vertical patterns to create a rhythmic, interwoven arrangement of grilles that effectively manages the spatial flow despite the constraint of a 245cm beam height. The residence incorporates a thoughtful balance between dark and light tones, particularly evident in the transitional staircase area, which serves as a mediating space between contrasting style preferences. The material palette includes titanium-plated chiseled panels, which introduce a unique textural element that complements the natural wood grain surfaces, marble flooring, and metallic accents. The open-plan social area demonstrates exceptional space optimization, while the private quarters maintain the grand and natural theme with ample storage solutions and luxurious amenities such as double washbasins. The project, completed in February 2023 in Taiwan, earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in addressing spatial challenges while creating a sophisticated living environment that seamlessly integrates functionality with aesthetic appeal.
