Umma Swing

Umma Swing

Umma Swing is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of coastal aesthetics and functional versatility in contemporary outdoor-indoor furnishing. Created by Brazilian designer Ariane Rosa, this sophisticated seating solution embodies a distinctive nautical ambiance through its elegant curved lines and seamless geometric composition. The design's structural integrity is achieved through a thoughtful combination of three primary materials: recyclable aluminum for the frame, nautical rope for support, and technical fabrics for upholstery, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability while ensuring durability for both indoor and outdoor applications. With dimensions of 800mm in width, 800mm in depth, and 1100mm in height, the Umma Swing features generously proportioned cushions that create an embracing, cocoon-like experience, evoking a sense of timeless tranquility reminiscent of seaside leisure. The design's technical innovation lies in its ability to create multiple pieces from basic elements while maintaining high aesthetic standards and structural requirements. Recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, this piece represents a significant achievement in combining practical functionality with artistic expression. The swing's versatility allows it to serve as both a functional seating element and an artistic statement piece, making it particularly suitable for contemporary living spaces that blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor environments.
