UMix Top Underwear Store is an innovative retail interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of gender philosophy and spatial design, completed in 2012 at the Venetian in Macau. The 1,533-square-foot space represents a sophisticated exploration of compatibility between masculine and feminine design elements, manifested through an intricate arrangement of polygonal forms at varying scales and angles. The design concept, developed by creative director Four Lau and art director Sam Sum, deliberately addresses contemporary gender dynamics through architectural expression, employing a complex geometric vocabulary to articulate the modern ideology of mutual tolerance and coexistence. The store's distinctive aesthetic is achieved through a carefully curated selection of materials, including PU painting, powder-coated metal, mirrors, milky acrylic, tiles, and fiberglass, which together create a multifaceted visual experience. A notable technical achievement of the project is its innovative approach to display systems, featuring concealed metal A-A wall units that maintain the design's clean aesthetic while providing practical merchandising flexibility. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional spatial optimization and represents a significant advancement in retail design philosophy. The interior's sophisticated implementation of geometric forms not only serves as a metaphor for gender compatibility but also creates an engaging shopping environment that challenges traditional retail design conventions while maintaining functional efficiency.
