Umea Sofa Bed Sofa Bed

Umea Sofa Bed Sofa Bed

Umea Sofa Bed Sofa Bed is an innovative and elegant transformable furniture piece designed by Claudio Sibille, distinguished by its visually lightweight appearance and sophisticated aesthetic appeal. This versatile furniture solution, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, seamlessly combines functionality with contemporary design elements, accommodating up to three people in its seating configuration and two people in its sleeping position. The design's distinctive feature lies in its unique armrest construction, which employs a striking stainless steel pipe structure reminiscent of praying mantis claws, departing from traditional bulky sofa bed designs. The furniture piece incorporates a classical click-clack mechanism for transformation while maintaining clean, modern lines throughout its composition. Constructed with a wooden skeleton interior, high-density foam, and premium fabric upholstery, the Umea measures 2215 mm in width, 933 mm in depth, and 734 mm in height, with a seat height of 396 mm. The design represents a significant departure from conventional sofa bed aesthetics, offering a fresh perspective on space-saving furniture that appeals to a broad demographic range, from young adults to mature couples. Its innovative approach to combining practicality with sophisticated design elements earned recognition for addressing the common challenge of creating multifunctional furniture that maintains high-end appeal while utilizing minimal materials.
