Twisted Cords For Clothing
Twisted cords for clothing, also known as drawstrings, are a type of fastening used to gather and tighten fabric. They consist of two or more strands of material, typically cotton or polyester, that are twisted together to form a cord. The ends of the cord are often finished with metal or plastic aglets to prevent fraying and make it easier to thread through the fabric. Drawstrings are commonly found on clothing items such as hoodies, sweatpants, and shorts. They are used to adjust the fit of the garment, allowing the wearer to tighten or loosen the waistband or hood as needed. Drawstrings can also be used for decorative purposes, adding a pop of color or texture to an otherwise plain garment. While twisted cords for clothing are generally considered a simple and functional fastening, they have occasionally been the subject of controversy. In 1996, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued guidelines for drawstring safety after several children were strangled by drawstrings on their clothing. As a result, many clothing manufacturers now avoid using drawstrings on children's clothing or use them only in a way that prevents them from becoming a choking hazard.
