Tulip Candlestick is an innovative lighting fixture that reimagines the traditional candleholder through a nature-inspired design approach, embodying the elegant form of a tulip flower. Created by designer Peiyao Cheng in collaboration with Di Lu and Junfeng Wang, this ceramic candlestick represents a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic beauty, measuring 55mm x 55mm x 70mm. The design's distinguishing feature lies in its thoughtfully crafted petal-like structure, which not only serves as a decorative element but also facilitates an intuitive lighting experience by allowing matches to be inserted through the gaps between the petals. This innovative approach to candle lighting transforms a routine task into a meaningful interaction, evoking the sensory experience of approaching a blooming flower. The ceramic construction provides durability while maintaining the delicate appearance characteristic of tulip petals, creating an elegant vessel for holding standard scented candles. Developed between October 2021 and February 2022 in Shenzhen, China, this design emerged from comprehensive research into user interactions with candlesticks and contemporary market solutions. The product's significance was recognized when it received the Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2022, acknowledging its contribution to innovative lighting design. The candlestick creates a multisensory experience by combining visual elements with practical functionality, as the flickering candlelight creates intricate shadows through the petal structure while allowing the subtle fragrance of scented candles to permeate the environment, fostering an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and meditation in domestic settings.
