Transformation Hotel is an award-winning architectural renovation project that exemplifies modern leisure-style interior design, focusing on creating a comfortable and relaxing environment while harmoniously blending heritage elements with contemporary aesthetics. Located on an outlying island in Taiwan, this 995-square-meter interior space encompasses guest rooms, corridors, a merchandise area, and a restaurant distributed across four floors and a basement level. The design philosophy emphasizes the preservation and transformation of original architectural elements, such as the restaurant flooring and staircase solid wood handrails, while introducing modern elements through a sophisticated approach to lighting, color palette, and corporate identity. The space features innovative design solutions, including an artificial green wall in the basement restaurant that compensates for limited natural light, while strategic use of blue tones throughout creates a calming atmosphere that connects to the maritime surroundings. The project showcases exceptional material selection, incorporating artificial stone, baking paint, moru glass, and titanium-plated trim, demonstrating a commitment to both aesthetics and functionality. Notable design elements include custom-designed dining tables crafted from durable artificial stone, strategically placed round mirrors for spatial expansion, and a dynamic ceiling treatment featuring white panels at various angles to conceal mechanical systems while creating visual interest. The project, completed in September 2021, overcame significant logistical challenges related to its island location and material procurement, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its innovative approach to hospitality design.
