Tomorrow Myth Endangered Animal Pins

Tomorrow Myth Endangered Animal Pins is an innovative collection of enamel pins that artfully transforms endangered animals into mythical creatures, serving as a poignant commentary on wildlife conservation. This design project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, masterfully combines cultural aesthetics with environmental advocacy through a series of six meticulously crafted zinc alloy pins. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing (Book of Mountains and Seas), the designs reimagine endangered species through the lens of Eastern mythological illustration styles, creating a powerful narrative about the potential future where these animals might exist only in folklore. Each pin, measuring approximately 3cm x 3cm and weighing 0.8g, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its production, featuring intricate metalwork that captures the essence of both the real endangered animals and their mythological interpretations. The collection's packaging design further enhances its cultural significance, with individual backing cards that form a complete traditional Eastern painting when arranged horizontally. The project, developed between February and September 2020, represents a unique approach to environmental awareness, as its business model involves donating produced pins to relevant conservation organizations such as the Philippine Eagle Foundation, enabling these organizations to utilize the pieces for their own fundraising efforts. This innovative distribution strategy maximizes the potential impact of the project on wildlife conservation efforts. The design successfully bridges the gap between decorative accessories and environmental activism, creating a tangible reminder of the urgent need for wildlife conservation while simultaneously providing practical support to conservation organizations through its unique donation-based model.
