Toby’s Home Interior

Toby's Home Interior is an innovative architectural and interior design project that seamlessly integrates a café and flagship store for a toy product line, situated within a prominent commercial compound in Beijing. Conceived and executed by renowned architect Chris Precht and his team, this distinctive space draws inspiration from natural environments, particularly focusing on the perspective of a seedling observing its surroundings. The design's most striking feature is its implementation of large, bundled arches that serve as architectural interpretations of trees, effectively defining and segmenting different functional areas within the space. Completed in 2015, this multifunctional environment masterfully combines retail, dining, and public gathering spaces, creating an immersive atmosphere that appeals to both children and adults. The design's sophisticated approach to spatial organization employs a careful interplay of solid and light elements, closed and open areas, and dense and wide spaces, resulting in a dynamic and engaging environment that enhances the user experience. The project, which garnered international recognition including the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, exemplifies excellence in commercial interior design through its innovative use of space, thoughtful material selection, and harmonious integration of multiple functions.
