Time Capsule Residential is an award-winning interior design project completed in Taipei in 2022, exemplifying a sophisticated approach to preserving personal history through spatial design. The 854-square-foot residential space transforms the conventional home environment into a curated sanctuary where memories and contemporary living harmoniously coexist. At its core, the design features a centrally positioned study that serves as the primary focal point of the public space, incorporating semi-open corner ports and utilizing a thoughtful combination of transparent glass and wooden sliding doors to create a dynamic interplay between openness and seclusion. The interior's distinctive character is achieved through the meticulous integration of vintage furnishings, including solid wood pieces with historical significance, Danish armoires, and artistic elements that span generations. The walls are finished with natural white clay, evoking nostalgic connections to traditional mud houses, while weathered cypress window sills complement artistic driftwood installations. The design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully balances functionality with aesthetic sophistication through features such as an extensive bookcase system, strategically placed classic furniture pieces including the Finn Juhl FAUTEUIL MODEL 1, and a Japanese tatami couch that creates a contemplative atmosphere. The space's spiritual dimension is enhanced by a carefully designed shrine area featuring a crystal Guanyin Bodhisattva illuminated to create a floating effect, demonstrating the designer's ability to weave together practical living requirements with deeply personal and cultural elements.
