Tian Zi Club is a sophisticated high-end wellness establishment located in Wuhan, China, exemplifying the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary design aesthetics. Completed in December 2017, this 1,000-square-meter facility was meticulously designed by Lichen Ding and team to create an immersive sensory experience through its thoughtful integration of spatial design, materials, and cultural symbolism. The design philosophy centers on engaging all five human senses - sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell - to facilitate holistic relaxation and rejuvenation. The space planning incorporates the traditional Chinese concept of bagua (eight trigrams) despite structural challenges, cleverly utilizing existing columns and narrow corridors to create a flowing layout that houses reception areas, SPA facilities, and health care services. The interior design scheme employs a sophisticated palette of materials including wood finishes, textiles, stainless steel, stone, and glass, creating an atmosphere that balances luxury with ecological consciousness. Standing three meters in height, the facility spans 68 meters in length and 21 meters in width, featuring distinct zones that cater to various wellness activities. The design draws inspiration from the four seasons and floral motifs in Chinese culture, incorporating rich Zen details and exotic elements that contribute to its unique ambiance. This innovative approach to wellness space design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its exceptional integration of cultural elements with modern design principles.
