The Wonderland Residential Space
The Wonderland Residential Space is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2018 in New Taipei City, exemplifying a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic refinement. This meticulously crafted living space, spanning approximately 380 square feet, demonstrates exceptional space optimization through its transformation from a three-room layout to a more efficient two-room configuration with a functional room, prioritizing the creation of broader public spaces while maintaining intimate family areas. The design, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases sophisticated solutions for modern living, incorporating customized storage solutions, thoughtfully designed transitions, and carefully selected materials. Notable features include an unconventional main wall treatment in the living room that employs clear backgrounds and horizontal lines to create visual expansion, a custom-designed corridor with integrated sliding doors, and a vestibule that maintains an 8cm height difference from the public space for practical dust management. The interior's material palette combines high-pressure laminate, iron frame elements, and precisely engineered wood flooring with push-down installation techniques to prevent humidity-related issues. The space is distinguished by its multifunctional elements, including a versatile couch system and geometrically styled bookshelf wall, while the extensive use of glass and mirror-polished materials creates an interplay between virtual and solid decoration, effectively expanding the perceived spatial dimensions. Designer Chen Shih Hsuan's approach emphasizes the intimate connection between daily life patterns and spatial design, resulting in a residential environment that seamlessly integrates health, leisure, functionality, and refined artistic taste.
