The Wall Stadium Football Stadium
The Wall Stadium Football stadium is an innovative architectural masterpiece emerging from a green shallow dune in the middle of the desert, distinguished by its unique underground design and revolutionary approach to sports facility architecture. This exceptional structure, designed by Lebanese architects and honored with the Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features a dramatic main stand that rises upright from an underground pitch, creating a striking visual impact that earned it the nickname 'The Laptop' due to its resemblance to an open computer when viewed from above. Spanning a plot area of 200,000 square meters with a stadium built-up area of 31,000 square meters and reaching a height of 60 meters, this B+G+4 structure accommodates 10,600 seats while introducing groundbreaking design elements. The stadium's revolutionary features include the absence of traditional floodlights, instead incorporating embedded lighting within the architectural framework to enhance its mystical atmosphere. The football playfield ingeniously punctures the serene green dune at the center, exposing the structure's innovative nature while the dune itself serves dual purposes as spectator parking and stand canopy. This underground all-weather stadium's design promotes superior player performance through its natural cooling system and enhanced acoustics, achieved by positioning the lawn and stands in the basement level. The project, located in Doha, Qatar, represents a significant advancement in stadium architecture, combining functional efficiency with architectural innovation, and stands as a testament to contemporary design excellence in sports facility architecture.
