The Tree Residential House
The Tree Residential House is an innovative residential architectural design that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural symbolism with contemporary living spaces. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning prototype, designed by Egyptian architect Adel Badrawy, draws profound inspiration from the organic structure of a tree, metaphorically representing family growth and connectivity. The design features a central core staircase that acts as the symbolic trunk, from which various living spaces cantilever outward like branches, creating a dynamic split-level configuration. Situated on a 16x24-meter rectangular plot, the 275-square-meter residence incorporates sophisticated spatial organization, with privacy levels increasing vertically through the structure. The journey through the house begins at an entrance level adjacent to a reflective pond, progressing through carefully orchestrated levels that house public spaces such as the reception area and office, transitioning to more private areas including bedrooms on upper floors, and culminating in a roof garden. The architectural composition employs premium materials, including imported Italian stone and savito paint, while the structural engineering allows for dramatic cantilevered masses supported by the central core and strategic column placement. The design particularly addresses the contemporary needs of young families, offering a sophisticated solution that combines workspace integration with residential comfort, a response to modern living requirements highlighted by recent global changes. The house's green roofs, terraces, and degrading canopy system create an immersive treehouse experience, while the water feature beneath the office mass symbolically represents the life-giving element that nurtures the metaphorical tree structure.
