The Sweet Home Interior Design
The Sweet Home Interior Design is a sophisticated residential interior design project completed in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural light, spatial efficiency, and contemporary living comfort. This 252-square-meter residence, designed by Hsiu-Hsiu Yu, demonstrates exceptional mastery in creating a luminous and welcoming living environment through its innovative U-shaped layout that maximizes natural light penetration throughout the space. The design's distinctive features include a striking foyer adorned with sandblasted glass and iron screening elements, creating an inviting entrance that sets the tone for the entire space. The interior showcases a masterful blend of materials, incorporating marble and wood elements, particularly evident in the television wall installation that captures and reflects daylight to create an atmosphere of refined grandeur. The spatial planning emphasizes clean lines and elegant simplicity in the living and dining areas, complemented by extensive storage solutions that maintain the design's minimalist aesthetic. A notable architectural intervention involved the transformation of a traditional washitsu (Japanese-style room) through the removal of sliding doors and the introduction of elevated flooring, effectively expanding the perceived spatial volume when viewed from the living area. The design accommodates individual family members' needs with personalized bedroom spaces, including a specially designed area for yoga practice in the master bedroom and a young boy's room that artfully combines wooden elements, iron details, and retro-style brick walls with contemporary features such as a jazz drum set, reflecting the family's cultural interests. This project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2018, represents a significant achievement in residential interior design, demonstrating excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and the creation of a harmonious living environment.
