The Story Begins Interior Design
The Story Begins Interior Design is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies the transformation of a 28-year-old living space in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, into a contemporary dwelling that harmoniously balances aesthetics with functionality. Conceived and executed by designers Cx Soon and Peyyi Beh, this innovative renovation project successfully overcame significant structural challenges, including exposed beams, low ceilings, and impractical layouts, to create a uniquely personalized living environment. The design philosophy centers on creating spaces that reflect the client's bold and exploratory character while maintaining a sense of tranquility throughout the interior. Completed in February 2022 after a four-month development period, the project demonstrates exceptional expertise in space optimization and architectural problem-solving, particularly in dealing with the constraints of aging infrastructure. The design's distinctive approach earned recognition through the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its contribution to innovative residential interior design. The project's success lies in its holistic approach to interior transformation, where each space was meticulously crafted to serve both practical needs and aesthetic aspirations, featuring surprising elements that complement the overall design narrative while maintaining functionality. This comprehensive renovation showcases the designers' ability to reimagine existing spaces through creative solutions, resulting in a living environment that not only meets modern lifestyle requirements but also preserves a unique design identity within the Malaysian urban context.
