The Spatial Dialogue Of The Classic Era Interior Design
The Spatial Dialogue of the Classic Era Interior Design is an award-winning commercial interior design project that masterfully combines contemporary functionality with nostalgic elements from the 1960s and 1970s. Created by designers Shao-Chiang Wu and Jui-Yang Kao, this 35-square-meter space serves as a sophisticated showroom for architectural materials while simultaneously functioning as a client meeting area. The design's foundational elements consist of a distinctive long gray wall featuring artisanal manual imprints that celebrate craftsmanship, complemented by wooden flooring that adds warmth and authenticity to the space. The innovative lighting design creates pearl-like halos against the gray wall, generating dynamic spatial expressions throughout the day. A notable feature is the implementation of vertical and horizontal frames that form bookshelves, creating a rhythmic visual tempo throughout the space. The design incorporates dark green frames and strategically placed spotlight tracks that produce layered linear visual effects, effectively extending the perceived spatial dimensions. The deepest section of the space features a wooden wall that ingeniously conceals a toilet door while serving as a gallery wall, displaying iconic images from the classic era, including portraits of Bruce Lee and Marilyn Monroe, as well as vintage items like the Vespa motorcycle. This thoughtful integration of historical elements with modern design principles earned the project an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and innovative approach to commercial interior design.
