The Sound of Poetry Key Visual is a sophisticated graphic design project that exemplifies the innovative visualization of auditory and poetic elements through visual communication. Created by designer Chih-Hsi Chen, this key visual masterfully translates the abstract concept of poetry and sound into tangible visual forms, drawing inspiration from digital audio waveforms and natural elements. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, manifests as a folding poster measuring 297mm x 420mm (A3) and accompanying cards of 180mm x 75mm. The visual composition uniquely interprets the transformation of organic and inorganic matter in the universe, incorporating distorted natural elements such as flames, leaves, and corals into wave-like formations that mirror the horizontal structure of written poetry. The design's technical execution employs specialized printing techniques, utilizing fiber-filled paper with a matted surface to maintain optimal black background saturation, while the title and information blocks feature distinctive silver printing. This key visual serves dual subprojects: a poetry-theater exploration of voice and a workshop series centered on science fiction and universal themes. The design's innovative approach lies in its ability to merge familiar natural elements with surrealistic wave patterns, creating an exotic visual experience that challenges viewers' perceptions while maintaining a coherent connection to the arrangement of poetic text. The project, completed between August and December 2021 in Taipei, demonstrates exceptional prowess in combining abstract and concrete concepts, effectively communicating the campaign's essence through its sophisticated visual language and careful attention to production details.
